Well anyway we got a new Asus – Intel EEE 701 laptop on the horizon. And believe it or not, this 7-inch notebook will only cost as low as $199 to own. In case you’re curious as much as I was, EEE stands for “easy to learn, easy to play, easy to work”.
You see, this laptop is not a full-blown laptop. It’s like a multimedia device, a tablet PC, or an Internet PC. It has an 802.11G WiFi, Ethernet/Modem connectivity, a webcam, 512 DDRAM and it’s storage capacity uses flash disks ranging from 4GB, 8GB to 16GB.
If you think about it the features are limited. But so what? These days if you just have a browser and an Internet connection you could do just about anything online. You could check emails, store files online, you could send photos online, you could blog, you could type documents (thanks to google docs), you could surf, you could chat – things that average people do on the Internet. Well unless you are a software developer, you wouldn’t need a feature-packed laptop when you’re not at home. A simple one like this would do in my opinion.
I can’t wait for this to come out. It is said that it will have Windows XP as its operating system but what edition would it be knowing that we have limited storage capacity? Anyway, I would love to own one especially when the time comes that I become a full-time blogger! It will definitely help me and other bloggers to blog just about anything, anywhere, anytime.

This is perfect for students like me =)
I wonder how much will it cost when it gets released locally. Sana bumaba pa dollar exchange rate.
Asus Eee Laptop + LG KU250 (cheapest 3g phone) = FTW!!!
hi guest..
kaw rin ba yung guest sa shoutbox?
anyway what is FTW? hehehe
I think storage is not a problem. Madami naman external storage ang available(flash disks, external hard drives, enclosures)I’m more concerned sa battery life, 3 hours lang daw based on what I’ve read.
FTW = for the win
Yeah, it’s me. Lagyan ko na lang ng trademark lol.

Hope that helps, I’m seriously looking at this thing.
thanks patrick…. nice to hear more about this laptop. 🙂
No problem Chris, always happy to look out for my “extended family” 😉
thanks patrick. are you a blogger too? can’t seem to find your link.
No I don’t blog, not so much interesting in my life that everybody would want to read about it. I’m just a guy who was looking for a laptop for my wife and stumbled across this, I know a bit about computers and I can’t wait to get my hands on one to make my own opinion of it. The hardware for the price is very appealing, but as always check everything before you buy 😉
This is already available. Pero not yet in the PH i guess. And it’s kinda disappointing because of its price, it didn’t to the original price release. But then this is still a good buy for all those who prefer ultraportability. I’ll definitely buy one if I have the moolah. Just want to try it out and brag it LOL…
LOL. Anonymous, I have seen that it’s already available at PCCorner’s website but haven’t seen it in shopping malls yet.
PC Corner’s price is not updated. Yun pa rin yung price when the EEE was announced, and it was never updated. They didn’t even removed the 16GB version that wasn’t announced.
PH arrival date is Nov. 5th as stated by PC Corners website.
I’m interested in this EEE PC, it’s something that you could bring around and as I said, it’s very good for bloggers.
May ganyan ako. Storage ang problema. Tapos kung nde mo aalagaan. Dumihin lalo na ung white. So far, okay naman xa. 🙂
