so ayun nga, kagabi, the patient's condition has been progressively and slowly deteriorating. andun ako sa bedside, monitoring her vital signs... yung blood pressure, wala na ako marinig sa stethoscope ko, kapa-kapa na lang. yung heart rate, bumibilis ng sobra... yung oxygen saturation ng katawan niya, nasa ~50% na lang... with the DNR and DNI consents, grabe talaga. sobra akong nalungkot, kasi as a doctor, i was there watching my patient deteriorating without doing anything but monitor her status...

while inside the patient's room, yung mga kamag-anak ng patient are getting emotional. i could hear them say, "nay, ipikit mo lang mata mo kapag pagod ka na ha...", or "nay, bukas paggising mo maliwanag na...", etc. gusto ko ngang lumabas sa room kasi nakakaiyak talaga yung mga eksena. and the patient has become dear to me too.

it was a different duty last night. i was in the patient's room throughout the night... watch her deteriorate until she breathed her final breath this morning... :'(

carpediem

that's sad.  :(  ganyan talaga buhay.

how many cases like that have you witnessed?

ctan

it was really sad carpediem... that was the first time I had that experience. kasi sa buong hospital life ko, either yung mga nagdedeteriorate ay ginagawa namin ang lahat to revive, or kung may DNR/DNI status man, hindi ako assigned sa unit na yun. haay...

Jon

in my 4 years sa hospital duty noong college , fortunate for me kasi wala pa akong namatay na patient under my care. baka lang siguro always good prognosis ang naka-assign sa akin.

pero brother in his 2nd sa nursing, namatayan na siya , ito pa sa armz talaga nya kasi papunta na silang hospital kasi ililipat ang patient to bigger facility, sa ambulance namatay.

ctan

Things like that happen... And it's always with a reason... Sometimes, we do not know why pero things happen the way they are...

eLgimiker0

Yes bro ctan. By the way, kamusta kagabi? ahahaha :D
