ang pangit ng skul ko..di sikat..hehehe..

You mean pag sikat maganda and pag hindi sikat hindi maganda??? Does it follow?

for me, i don't think so. may ibang schools na sobrang overrated pero diploma mill lang naman.

like what school? nasusubukan naman yan sa mga success/passing rate sa mga board / bar exams (one of the factors)

sa ngayon, para sa akin, school life is much better. hehe
life after graduation has been much more stressful.
haha. i won't mention kasi baka may nag-aaral pala dun. passing rates indeed is one of the factor in assessing schools. pero sabi nga sa amin, schools must not just focus on training potential board topnotchers, but also on teaching in the grand manner.

siyempre in the grand scheme of things, nasa pagpapahalaga ng buhay ang dapat na natutunan at isinasabuhay. yung karaniwang wala sa mga report card or form143.

dependent ba ito sa school mo? hindi ba most probably dapat kung paano mo isinabuhay ang "school life" haha

i totally agree with this, its more how you created your character straight from school. pero di maalis ang leverage but still dependent sa hiring manager. part ng office politics to pick those aspiring applicants na galing sa school or region nila. naging part na rin ako ng technical board ng nag-interview, minsan kahit dean's lister ka sumasablay pa rin sa tech interview dahil di alam ang mga practical applicaitons dahil mga kabisote.

i'll give you the same advise na sinasabi ko sa pinsan ko at lil brother ni wifey na froshie ngayon sa DLSU/. enjoy college life... responsibly :) sa pag-aaral naman - always have the hunger to learn new things, kasi kahit pagkagraduate mo you still need to expand your knowledge.

† harry101 †

yeah, yan nga rin ang sinasabi ng mga profs...

how about kung maraming failed subjects? do you have lesser chance of getting a job in major companies? haha  ;D talaga bang inuusisa ang transcript of records?

sorry i know OT na hehe

angelo

well here is what i can share.

whatever your credentials are coming from school, it can always take you closer to the door, if not inside already.
but after you get in, it will be a different ballgame and its the practical side and the pagiging wais that will propel you to the top.

so ano yung pagiging wais? mahirap talaga maipaliwanag.

failed subjects? it may be a little harder, but you can still prove yourself. and gaya ng sabi ni hiei, lagi kang open to learn new things. :)

enjoy college life.... sa sobrang pag-enjoy ko na-extend ako ng 1 year  ;D

my 2 cents, failed subjects only matter on your first job. biggest downside is you can't defend yourself sa initial screening where the company sorts out the bad apples by checking the resume and transcript.

isa pang ok sa DLSU, we have job orientation subject where they teach you how to prepare your resume, dress up properly, be confident sa interview... also, pa-list ka rin sa CPO (Career Placement Office) they are the ones who forward our resume sa mga big companies na may affiliations sa DLSU. padadalhan ka agad ng mga companies for interview kahit ka-graduate mo palang and preparing for the board.

kung mag-stay ka sa pinas mag-telecoms ka.... kung balak mo mag-Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan it's either semicon or software... kung US medyo mahirap na with the global financial crisis at kadalasan offshoring na ang options nila. i have a couple of friends na kahit senior at manager na na-lay-off pa rin. sadly, most of them change to different careers like the medical field. btw ang naging gateway nila to US is joining multinational companies dito sa pilipinas like intel, maxim, cypress, analog devices... then L1 or lateral transfer na lang sa US. ganito kasi practice noong kalakasan ng semicon industry.

hth!

not necessarily. depende yan on how you will present yourself sa resume mo. if your grades really ain't good, mas i-highlight dapat yung extra curricular na related sa course/job na inaapplyan. yan ay kung meron. kasi learning naman is not and should not be contained in the four walls of the classroom diba?

Thanks for your advices guys  :)

Tama si angelo. I think wala sa school yan. Usually ang tinitingnan ng mga HR at hiring managers ay yung achievements mo sa school hindi yung pangalan ng school. School can be a "gulat" factor pero mas importante yung achievements based sa experience ko.

I look down to companies who advertise in the classifieds and say that they will only hire from the top performing schools (kahit yung mga nabanggit nila na school ay alma mater ko). Pakiramdam ko wala silang value sa employees o taong hina-hire nila at hindi sila marunong mag-screen ng applicants.

sorry mods, medyo off topic. Hehehe
