Probably the worst condition i've seen related to smoking  is COPD = emphysema + chronic bronchitis. A 63 year old patient with a 80 year smoking pack history (2 packs/day for the last 40 years).
He's extremely thin, bed ridden and  has trouble breathing even with a ventilator.
He can't sleep properly because he feels like drowning in air.
So sad, he wants to die but his body won't let him

how about mercy killing? allowed ba yun?

The difference between substance abuse and addiction is very slight. Substance abuse means using an illegal substance or using a legal substance in the wrong way. Addiction begins as abuse, or using a substance like marijuana or cocaine.

You can abuse a drug (or alcohol) without having an addiction. For example, just because Sara smoked pot a few times doesn't mean that she has an addiction, but it does mean that she's abusing a drug — and that could lead to an addiction.

Nope. It is unethical and a crime.

Kahit tanggalin mo yung ventilator, the body will attempt to breath because its a natural instinct.
but it will be horrible like a fish taken out of the pond only the person won't die.

If I still remember psychiatry...

Substance Addiction is when a person's body is physically dependent on the drug that side effects will be felt when drug is withdrawn. Therefore the person will attempt to obtain the drug in order to achieve stabilization.

Usually yung withdrawal symptoms parang nagkakakasakit yung tao.
Headache, nausea, vomiting, irritability, trembling, anxiety, etc... so feeling ng mga tumigil mas lalo sila nagkakasakit pero talagang nasa withdrawal sila.

Sabi daw once you stop smoking for 5 years, the cancer risk of that person who stopped is the same as a person who never smoked at all. Pero definitely yung damage sa lungs is permanent at cannot be the same as those who haven't smoked. Permanent in a sense na yung lung function (FEV1 or Maximum amount of air exhaled in the first second) ay mas mababa compared to nonsmoker which means magiging hingalin sila sa mga exercises.

eLgimiker0

so, wala ng ibang way para mabawasan ng kahit konti yung peklat or scar na gawa ng smokes?

eLgimiker0

makakatulong ang exercise habang nasa withdrwal stage?

by the way, thanks sa infomation, sobrang helpful  :)

eLgimiker0

eLgimiker0

thanks again kilo.

Mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual talaga ang kailangan..

yung will :D
