Levi's for me.
its classic, quality is excellent, not ridiculously priced. you know their jeans are meant to be kept for long.
What do you think of Andy Warhol by Levi's jeans? I saw several pairs on sale in Rustan's.
i'm not particular with the brand as long as its dry/raw, selvedge and fits properly. dry/raw because i want my jeans to have my own distressing imprint... selvedge because it's the old tedious process of looming the denim cloth with self finished edge and it synonymous to high quality. premium on this case is not dictated by brand but the quality of the material and construction.... lastly, fit... even if you have a $400 or so japanese denim but the fit doesn't suit your physique.... alam nyo na ang kasunod dahil it applies to all clothes

and they never run out of style
haha, i was curious and laughing, bec i thought this thread is about bras.. mababasa mo kasi sa labas ng form.. (Re; what's your fave bra..)
haha
.....levis 501 at guess lang, its worth the money and affordable unlike the others super mahal na.....kumpleto na ata ako ng levis 501 hehehe.....di pa pala wala ako nung white pants.....I hate it
i guess bench and jag.
hmmm... Levi's, American Eagle Outfitters and Blue Harbor.

i just realized that i didn't answer the "why" part... hahaha!!!
Levi's --- c'mon... it's a classic! everyone look's good in a pair of Levi's (as long as you have it in your size, right?)
American Eagle --- i love their sanded denim washes. wala pa akong nakitang company that offers the same kind of visual texture for their jeans. i also like the feel of the denim; smooth, and it clings around your leg line really well.
Blue Harbor --- the fact that they locally carry my size and i don't have order it online is reason enough for me to be happy. since it's a british company, they have a different take on jeans. their cut is trouser-like, so the fit in the crotch area is a more roomy without sacrificing on the flat front aspect of the pants. plus their denim washes (like levi's and american eagle) are consistent across the pant... not splotchy and concentrated on the thigh.

......di ko na try ung jeans ng blue harbor, most of my tops (polo shirts) are blue harbor and arrow since they have big sizes for me.......
mostly from penshoppe.. never tried sa FnH.. i see good ones though sa jag and tribal..
my current favorite pair - bench OJ premium selvedge why? it's the cheapest dry selvedge denim and the material is waay better than most jeans na mas mahal pa. the fit is perfect and stacking is similar to dior homme, well it can be achieve by getting longer seam 34in and stiffer denim. ang ayaw ko lang malakas manghawa dahil unwashed or raw/dry, kaya nag-cold soak ako w/c i never did on my evisu and RRL para mabawasan na ma-stain ang lighter colored shoes and shirt. nasa 3rd month na pala ng walang labahan... ung evisu nasa 4th month na and RRL 13months and counting :D

bench ba ung nasa photo?
yup, same OJ selvedge. stack look ang nasa unang pics then cuffed or tupi ng 3 inches ang nasa babang picture to show the selvedge details.
imma jeans person...
BUT...

hehehe oo, sabi kasi sa label from my first dry jeans e 6 months bago labahan. pero dapat ata everyday suot para mas pronounced ang whiskering and honeycombs. kapag nalabahan prematurely di lalabas ang preferred effect. kaya in reality umaabot nga ng more than 9months or even a year bago labahan esp kung maraming dry selvedge kang mina-manage or schedule ng suot. in practical sense, 1 pair lang ng dry selvedge jean ok na to cover the whole denim department.

i don't like the feel kasi of selvedge jeans. siguro may pagka-old school lang ako when it comes to jeans hehehe ^^p
actually those are old school since they are using vintage machine to loom the denim w/ the self edge/selvedge. might be the dry/raw part kasi it's stiff as hell compared to the soft jeans na sanay tayo. pero lumalambot rin as in super lambot once you gone thru the break-in stage... yup, parang leather shoes without the blisters ;D

hahaha! if anything like that comes in a size 44, then i'm in ^^p
;D try checking selfedge http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index
usually the sizes run big, magkakatalo na lang sa laba.. cold wash will retain the same size... hot wash iigsi up to 2in depende sa brand.

bagay naman sa mga hefty people yung skinny jeans. it works well for big people since it creates the illusion of less mass by following the line of your body. not my thing though... i'd rather stick to regular straight cut pants ^^,

Hmm.... guys. ano bng ryt cut at brand for me sa jeans.. Actually, I only have 1 jean.
Ung d k mapakale..
pillin mo yung straight cut or loose fit jeans brands like Levis and Guess.

for being abundant and classic icon, i'll go with levis. kahit saan meron at distinctive ang fit. halos parehas tayo ng physique based on your description. nag-range waistline ko from 30-32 depending on the brand. and malaki thighs and calves ko dahil i work-out and ride my bike. my suggestion is to start with levis then work yourself-up.
it seems walang kang preference sa cut as long as its comfy. i'd say get levis 501.
1. 514 - slim straight. maluwag pa rin sa thighs then tapers sa calf pero maluwag pa rin but streamlined to make it look slim.
2. 511 - skinny, contrary to its label di sya skin tight, slim pa rin as the slim straight pero mas tight ang tapering to the hem. i suggest get one size higher.
tip:
sukat lang ng sukat, very common conception about slim kung mataba mukhang suman.. kung payatot naman mas mukhang tingting, but still it boils down sa right cut. paano mo malalaman na you have right cut? the jeans should create an illusion that will compliment your physique. so kung may makuha kang slim fit pero mukha pa rin suman it means it's not the right cut for you.
thanks guys!!
I'll go check Levi's this weekend.. Cguro mall hopping na din...
Hmm, maitake note nga yung model numbers ng jeans..

thought so too. grabe yung 7 for all mankind!
yup including 7FAM ;D nothing special with the fabric and construction just plain soft and light denim.
w/ regards to denim, zimbabwe cotton is on the top of the list and normally seen on high quality japanese jeans. it's hand picked kaya lesser damages compared to a machine.
bench, folded and hung.. d best ..
I buy my jeans sa Topman. lahat ng jeans ko pareho ang design. Two reasons, they don't fade easily at eto lang yung pair na nabili ko na hindi ko na kelangan putulan ang length o i-fold hehe :D.

banana republic
zara
--> yan lang yung mga na-try ko na medyo ka-level or mas mataas sa levi's. yung iba, masyadong mahal na. minsan nga gusto ko subukan yung Viktor, custom-made jeans. but they range from 7k-10k last time i asked.
check mo rin uniqlo nasa $80, cheapest well made raw selvedge denim... kung around 5K to 7K pasok na dyan APC which is about $150.
I ended up buying 3 different color of pants ng marks & spencer na blue harbor ang tatak.
kaso sigurado 'pag magkaroon sa atin maging ginto ang presyo tulad ng zara at topman which supposed to be mura.

maka-human pa dn aq.. seats between the cheap and the luxury jeans.
i love skinny jeans , it uplifts the personality at par level.
(OT) Hey Karen! Welcome to PGG :D Hope to see you around. :)
magkano sa viktor? diba customized jeans yun?
angelo,
re: 7FAM... not worth it, i have a pair prolly their most discreet still so-so quality compared to my raws... mas ok pa ang levi's not in deragatory way to levis but mas bang for the buck ang levis regular line.... kung i-compare mo sa levis vintage clothing w/c keeps its real denim heritage... walang comparison esp the 1947 and 1967 re-issues.
re: viktor.... from what i heard it starts @ 7,000... pero at that price i'd rather get APC new or petite standard...
pero kung gusto mo talgang bespoke jeans meron pang isa pang gumagawa named lejandro... mas cost effective since he imports his denim cloth from japan for that high quality selvedge and dry jeans. if that's what you prefer.
speaking of dry selvedge denim, here's the heaviest denim to date and its highly limited to 10 pairs!
Naked & Famous stake their claim in denim history with the world's heaviest denim and their 32 oz model. Requiring some serious heavy-duty construction, the selvedge denim model is sure to elicit bloodied and bruised thumbs just from the buttoning process. As the pictures show, the denim stands-up on its own and will be limited to somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 pairs.
definitely a stand out! literally it can stand on its own hehehe

BUT if your thing is immediate gratification, soft and pre-wash then raw denim is not your thing... it'll take at least a month na araw-araw na suot just to break it in and that only works for 12-14oz jeans kung heavier stuff expect longer and there'll be blood :o
i was just after the customized fit. if its going to cost me at least seven grand, then forget it.

Actually that's the least of your worries. pinakamahirap na part is the break in period... Super tigas nyan :) in a way advantage ang thicker and heavier denim dahil raw or dry di nilalabahan and that causes tje fiber to weaken...
All raw or dry jeans are meant not to be washed. ung sa akin inabot ng more than 1 yr bago nilabahan, should have kept it longer for more pronounced fades lalo na ilan rin ang on rotation...
hinde :) atsaka wala nman amoy, kaya ko nilabahan na-excite akong lumitaw ang whiskering and honeycombs.... big mistake, kulang pa rin kasi mileage before nilbahan grrr
Ok na aq sa Penshoppe Or LEE :D
Hek Hek :D
Basta Hindi kupas yung Kulay..
Sa jeans... Do you like ung me mga design na prang jobos or marbling color dun sa jeans? or u still prefer ung plain blue or black jeans?
Ok Saken yung Plain Black..
Tapos Sasabayan ko ng Polo / T Shirt With Jacket.. Ayoko naman maging Itsurang Jejemon..
Based From My Style.. Gothic kasi ako.. Black And White..
^ me nakta kase aq saFolded N Hung na jeans xa and its soft.. pero ung design nya eh me marblic light grey stains sa jeans. It looks good but I haven't seen anyone yet wearing those..
i prefer raw and stiff as f*ck... no factory wash gusto ko ako mag-break-in to get my own honeycombing and distress at parang leather shoes... pagkaraan ng break-in super lambot na :)
^^ so you want ung masikip na jeans? It's hard to wear those.. I remember I got some skin iritation on my thigh when I wore tight jeans one time..
what is break in?
what is honeycomb in jeans?
what is post-break in?
Nope I dont wear skinny but there's a thin line between skinny and slim fit. All of my jeans are slim and tappered.... Tappered is best suited for us w/ bit thights but to some extent.
Break-in - initial phase of using something and distressing it. common example new car na may break in period na 1k kkm... Pro d related sa fashion... Kya next is leather shoes w/0is similar with raw jeans that start as stiff before it becomes supple.
Honeycomb - are the fades behind your knees resembling honeycombs or diamond pattern
Post break-in - after break in jeans start to habe distressing ang supple.
ah ok.. tappered means mga tela na pinagtahi-tahi together? more like nakatapal?
Tappered - type of cut where the pants have wider thigh entry but narrower hem. in comparison a straight cut pants naman has the same width throughout the legs
so u'r saying that we can look better on a tapered cut since we can show more figures because it fits without the stiff like the skinnies..
What jeans do you recomend? (ung hinde expensive ah. [budget: around 1k])
i mean about stiffness is parang naarmirol or been starched kaya stiff... usually mga skinnies malambot dahil di pure denim may elastic component in order to fit in.
yup, tapered cut will suit us best kung gusto mo ng slim cut. lately pinapansin ko how dwayne 'the rock' johnson, jason statham and always na maporma na sylvester stallone regarding how they carry their suits... kahit very muscular lean and long tingnan ang mga suit nila complementing their physique.
wala pa akong nababalitaan ulit na affordable raw selvedge jeans sa atin. the last time was 2 years ago ung sa bench OJ selvedge.... cheapest raw selvedge denim i ever had, tapos na-sale pa ng P400!! kaya nung naghanap ako lintek 2 size na lang at ubos na... na-check ng barkada ko mga bench shops sa metro manila, tapos na check ko sa ATC wala.... long shot sa probinsya namin ako naka-tyempo.

^ I observe mejo "roomy" ang knyang pantalon?
Yup, roomy on the thigh area then tapers down sa hem kung pansin mo narrow na sa hem. Naka sag rin ang jeans to give that non chalant look. Kung masikip and too close to skin suman labas sa kanya dahil litaw ang quads nun
so u dont recomemd us wearing jeans na skin hugging? kase magiging suman tayo?
Well, not in my case. haha! :D
^ yeah PGG users may be an exception coz they follow fashion pero yung karamihan ng pinoys ganun talaga ang mapapansin mo
Marvinifthefaintsmile,
Yes, if you prefer just slim cut w/c can be sag on top and little stacking sa bottom.
Pinoybrusko,
I dont see it tht way parang pantay lang dami ring baduy na kano at mukhang gusgusin... kahit rin neighboring asian brothers natin they have their fair share of kabaduyan. The only thing I can think of sa atin mga pinoys walang distinctive porma unlike the japanese, italians, british and americans. pero oks lang kasi these 4 cpuntries create their own trend and the rest follow. Mga koreano sa mga japanese lang namn nanggaya then spread na sa buong asia in different degrees.
fox69,
They usually wear known high ticketed items na diffusion brands nman ang karamihan, then tayong common na tao sees it as status symbol kaya gaya rin tayo. Good example na formula - polo shirt, pants and shoes... Sa polo madalas yan lacoste, fred perry or diffusion ng burberry at ralph lauren... Sa pants ung premium jeans na uso sa US na 7fam, true religion or diffusion brands ng armani, ralph lauren, dOlce... Shoes apparently kuha ng tama ng pinoy since madali naman malaman kung alin talga uso but still fall prey sa mga tacky designs w/ screaming big brands... To top it off dapat may accessories na panalo palagi pinoy... For men matinding relo palagi and usually high end.. Same with women and their bags... But the.problem is accessories yan you have to work first w/ your main ensemble.
I prefer jeans from People are People and Folded and Hung..
